Update on Pedro 'The Rock' Rizzo
Former UFC star Pedro Rizzo has been rumoured to be closing in on a deal to return to big time MMA competition. 'The Rock' has been away from action since November of 2003, when he defeated Ricco Rodriguez, Pedro now appears to be very close to a deal in Japan.
Though he did not want to reveal anything that could cause damage to negotiations, a quick conversation with Pedro revealed that he left Rio de Janeiro yesterday, August 31st, to travel to Holland, where he intends to help his old friend Peter Aerts prepare for his next fight. Observers who know Pedro, will tell you that when his own fight is coming close, 'The Rock' usually heads to Holland to sharpen his knives there.
While in Rio, Pedro was training every day at the Ruas VT / Nova Uniao headquarters. We expect that very soon there will be an anouncement made about his future.
On another note, Rizzo was a special referee for the main event between Jeff Monson and Carlos Clayton at this past weekend's AFC Brazil 1 show, in Nova Friburgo.
